Madison Artist Featured in Gallery Banner Art Project

MADISON, NJ - "I really enjoyed being included in this great event”, Dan Fenelon said. “It’s wonderful to see all unique visions from each artist."

The Sidewalk Gallery Banner Art Project sponsored by MACA and the DDC is on exhibit throughout downtown Madison.  A Gala Auction event featuring all the sidewalk gallery banners will be held on October 18 at the Hartley Dodge Memorial Building.  The proceeds will benefit the artists, MACA and the DDC.

Dan Fenelon, a Madison resident, is one of eight featured artists. Fenelon studied at the Art Student League in New York and School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.  He produces pieces with an explosion of bright colors infusing a mix of pop, cartooning, modernism and tribalism.  He has an affinity and gift for creating murals, paintings and three dimensional artwork.

Every year, the White House in Washington DC presents the National Christmas Tree Display on its lawn.  In 2012 Dan was chosen by the Governor’s office to create 24 Christmas ornaments for the New Jersey tree.  In keeping with his commitment to young artists, Dan worked closely with students from the Morristown Mentoring Program to complete the project.

He has created work for solo exhibits, galleries and other venues. He’s been commissioned for public installations such as:

The Barat Foundation – creation of the Peace Mural welcoming the Dahli Lama to the 2011 Newark Peace Summit

The Township of West Orange – creation of a 20’ x 30’ mural on the Luna State Building

The Dwelling Place of Grand Rapids – creation of a 120’ x 30’ mural

The Montclair Public Library – creation of a 20’ x 45’ mural in the library stairwell

Deborah Farrar Starker, MACA, who organized Madison’s public art project said, “Dan’s work exudes energy.  His art is dramatic, highly detailed and has been likened to ‘petroglyphs’ with a modern art twist.  He uses a visual language which immediately connects with people of all ages, and we are so lucky to have him participate in this project.”
