Dear Editor:

On behalf of the Madison Area Chamber of Commerce and as chairman of our Easter Fun Fest event, I would like to thank our sponsors Cleaners Advantage and Whole Foods Market and all of the families who came downtown on Saturday, April 8 to celebrate Easter with our community and businesses. Our 10th annual Easter Fun Fest was a great success due to everyone’s participation.

With temperatures in the mid 50’s and plenty of sunshine, families came and enjoyed collecting Easter eggs around town while exchanging greetings and spending time with the Easter Bunny.

The event brought families from nearby towns, all who commented on how they enjoy Madison’s town, events and incredible community spirit.  We all enjoyed hearing these positive compliments and we hope that these types of events continue to bring new people into our community and to the downtown area.

Children got to take a chance to win a Kent Series bicycle donated by Peter Daniele of Rose City Collision, 291 Main St.

The winner of the bicycle was Gianna Dianis of Madison.  In addition to the bicycle, the family received a toy and candy filled Easter basket donated by Walgreens, 122 Main St., a Tons of Toys gift certificate, 64 Main St., car wash coupons donated by Ken Maietta, owner of Madison Car Wash, 267 Main St. and a gift certificate for a floral arrangement donated by Whole Foods Market, 222 Main St.

Our second prize winner, Madison resident Emma Iuliano received an Easter basket full of candy and toys also donated by Walgreens, 122 Main St., a Tons of Toys gift certificate and a back pack donated by Whole Foods Market.

This year’s jelly bean contest was once again a highlight of the event.  The Longo family of Madison won a custom gourmet basket donated by our event sponsor Whole Foods Market and an LED Tetra fish aquarium and gift certificate donated by Ned Finn owner of The Madison Pet Shop, 26 Main St.

I would like to extend a very special thank you to Mayor Robert Conley for his participation and support during the event.  Many thanks to our volunteers Chamber President John Morris, Karen Giambra, Frank Iannarone and Robbin Salmeri for helping on set up and working the Chamber table.  Special thanks to Meg Wastie for entertaining the children as our Easter Bunny and Ashley Jayne for assisting throughout the day.

Thanks also go to the Madison Police Department, Sgt. Ed Mitchko and to Patrol Officer Stephanie Aguino Spiro for traffic control and pedestrian safety.

Madison business owners were pleased with the Chamber’s Annual Easter Fun Fest and hope that the families that participated and visited their stores will return for future shopping.

Thank you again to the many that came out for this fun family event and for your continued support of our Madison businesses.

Enjoy Spring!

Peter Daniele, Vice President
