MADISON, NJ – County tournaments continued for the Madison High School sports teams over the week. Let’s take a look back to see how the Dodgers competed.

Boys Soccer

The seventh-seeded Dodgers fell to second-seeded Mendham, 3-1, in the quarterfinal round of the Morris County Tournament on Oct. 7.

Lucas DiGiacomo scored off an assist from Jack Flanagan in the second half for Madison, while goalie Brendan Armstrong made five saves.

Mendham held an 8-3 advantage in shots. Ross Spano put in two goals for the Minutemen.

The Dodgers (10-2) bounced back with a 7-2 victory over Boonton on Oct. 8. Madison scored four goals in the first half – finishing with 14 shots in total. DiGiacomo had a hat trick and also assisted, Brendan Mulcahy and Aditya Chandrashekar both scored twice and had an assist, Michael Adams, Trevor Klosinski and Gabe Peralta had assists and Armstrong made three saves.

Earlier in the week, the Dodgers edged Kinnelon, 2-1, on Oct. 5. Madison had 22 shots and Brednan Ocampo put in both goals. Mulcahy and DiGiacomo had assists and Armstrong made six saves.

Field Hockey

Madison fell to one of the state’s elite teams in Oak Knoll, 6-0, on Oct. 3. Nicole Ducey made 14 saves for the Dodgers.

The top-seeded Dodgers (10-2) cruised to an 8-0 victory over 16th-seeded Jefferson in the first round of the Morris County Tournament on Oct. 9. Kerrianne McClay led Madison with two goals and three assists, while Isabella Fragomeni added two goals and an assist.

Madison takes on eighth-seeded Boonton in the county tournament quarterfinals on Oct. 11. Boonton knocked off ninth-seeded Mountain Lakes in the first round, 3-2.


Girls Soccer

Madison (6-3) fell to Morris Catholic, 2-1, on Oct. 4. Brooke Kleiven scored the lone goal for the Dodgers and Ginny Taylor made 10 saves in net.

The Dodgers edged Mountain Lakes, 2-1, on Oct. 8. Madison held a 10-5 advantage in shots and Sadie Kim and Emma Torkelson netted goals on assists from Grace Keane and Sophia Haralampoudis.


Girls Tennis

Sixth-seeded Madison defeated 11th-seeded Parsippany, 4-1, in the first round of the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 2 tournament on Oct. 4. Allison Nevias was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at first singles, Klara Jonson didn’t drop a game at second singles, Emma Anderson was another 6-1, 6-0 winner at third singles and the first doubles team of Eva Guarin and Heather Yuen cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

Madison (4-5) advanced to take on third-seeded Caldwell in the sectional quarterfinals.


Girls Volleyball

Following a loss to Mendham, third-seeded Madison (12-2) opened up the Morris County Tournament with a 25-22, 36-34 victory over 14th-seeded Montville.

Madison will take on sixth-seeded Morris Knolls in the Morris County Tournament quarterfinals.

Kathryn Wilt had 14 digs and nine kills, while Nashary Giraldo added 13 assists.

Madison defeated Whippany Park, 25-16, 25-8, on Oct. 9. Eve Sherwood had nine digs and seven kills, while Samantha Paske had 13 assists.
