MADISON, NJ - This spring has been more wet then dry but blue skies and 70 degree tempature is on the menu for the the official ribbon cutting to mark the opening of the 2017 season of the Madison Farmers Market tomorrow, June 1st.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 2:00p.m at the intersection of Central Avenue and Main Street. The market, one of the oldest in the state, will be celebrating its 25th season this year. New this year the market will remain open for two additional weeks, closing later then usual on October 26th.
“Sidewalk Sounds” also returns to the market with live performances by great local musicians every week.
"Throughout the season local businesses and non-profits will be holding showcases at the market. In addition, again this season the Madison Chamber of Commerce will offer a Health/Wellness/Beauty Event on a weekly basis called “Look Good Feel Good Madison” at the Farmers’ Market. Each week will feature two local businesses that specialize in these fields," shared Lisa Ellis of the Downtown Development Commission in Madison.
The June 1 market will feature Club Pilates, who will also be celebrating their grand opening with an official ribbon cutting ceremony at 1:00p.m. at 53 Main Street.
"Alstede Farms, Melick’s Town Farm, and Vacchiano Farm will be selling their Jersey Fresh produce again this year. Also returning to the market will be Old Fashioned Kettle Korn, Pickle Licious, Paolo’s Kitchen, Gourmet Nuts and Dried Fruits, Secret Garden Soap of Madison, and Squeezed Fresh Lemonade. Vendors new to the market in 2016 will also be back this year including: Custom Prepped, Ester's Treats, The Farmer & The Chickpea, J&J's Italian Ice, Patricia & Paul Artisans of Fine Oils & Balsamics, and Stefans': Pierogi, Stuffed Cabbage, Smoked Kielbasy. New to the market for the 2017 season, will be Aspen Ridge Farm, Chef Pat's Kitchen, Hunter's Family Farm, S.L.U.G. Company and Verrilli's Bakery," added Ellis.
The Madison Farmers Market is presented by the Downtown Development Commission (DDC) and sponsored by Drew University and Gary’s Wine and Marketplace every Thursday June 1 through October 26 from 2p.m. to 7p.m.
