MADISON, NJ The Madison Varsity Field Hockey team beat Jefferson in the first round of the Morris County Tournament Tuesday afternoon. The win comes following a bye in the preliminary round of the tournament as the Dodgers were seeded first in the county.
It was a slow start for Madison. Although the majority of the game was played in front of Jefferson’s goal, it took some time for the Dodgers to get on the board. Their first goal was scored by senior Isabella Fragomeni off of a corner with only twelve minutes left in the first half.
From there, things picked up for the team. Fragomeni put in another goal for Madison, along with an assist. Senior Kerriane McClay also put in two goals and had three assists of her own. There was no stopping the Dodgers in the second half. Juniors Chase Cmaylo and Alexa Slabugh, as well as seniors Ciara Hunt and Emma Meister scored as well.
An great defensive effort kept Jefferson scoreless. The final was 8-0.
Madison will continue its tournament run, facing eighth-seeded Boonton in the quarterfinals this Thursday, October 11th.
