NORTH CALDWELL – The Madison High School girls lacrosse team will be playing for a state championship.
The Dodgers knocked off Indian Hills, 15-9, in the NJSIAA Group 2 tournament semifinals on Thursday afternoon at West Essex, setting up a final with Haddonfield at Kean University on June 1 at 10 a.m.
Madison continues to write the story on this historic season – winning its first sectional title after upsetting the top seed Rumson-Fair Haven before powering past Indian Hills on Thursday.
The Dodgers (17-4) have now won six in a row and have not lost since May 4.
Leah Rutland had a strong game against Indian Hills, finishing with seven goals on the day. Ginny Taylor continued her string of solid performances with a three-goal, five-assist day.
Clare Culligan put in two goals and had seven draw controls. Emma Torkelson, Shea Baggett and Lauren Kaye all scored goals for the Dodgers.
Devin Thompson was the top scorer for Indian Hills with five goals.
Madison now has a quick turnaround as it prepares for Haddonfield, which defeated Manasquan in the other Group 2 semifinal.
Haddonfield (19-3), the South, Group 2 winner, enters on a nine-game winning streak.
