MADISON, NJ — The Madison Dodgers came out on top 2-0 against a tough Parsippany team on Monday evening. Madison improves to an outstanding 10-2 on the season.
The Dodgers had a bit of a slow start and found themselves down in the early part of the first set. The second unit stepped up for Madison and came back to win the set 27-25 after being down set point.
“I expect leadership out of the seniors and a little bit better play,” Coach Stephen Fenton said. “And fortunately the younger kids pulled it out for us in the first set."
Madison started off the second set on a 13-1 run and things looked out of reach for Parsippany. However, the Red Hawks went on a run that tied it up at 16-16. After a couple back and forth points, Madison took the lead and won the second set 26-24.
“We’re going to have to continue to work on getting the ball on the floor," Fenton said. “We’re trying to get kills instead of leaving the ball high so the other team can dig."
Senior Jennie Scavone finished with 10 assists and Junior Jane Taylor finished with 5 kills for Madison. Jessica Ho for Parsippany led the way with a game-high 10 kills.
“I knew we could do a lot better than we were playing”. Jane Taylor said about the first set. “Seeing us play like that was very frustrating and we all needed to just relax."
Madison will play at home against Villa Walsh Academy on Wednesday, September 28th at 4:00pm
