Madison Police Chief John Trevena Retires


MADISON, NJ - Chief John Trevena announced his retirement today, effective immediately. The vacancy will be discussed as a personnel issue on the Executive Session agenda of the August 13 Madison Borough Council meeting.

Trevena stated, "It has been an honor to serve the residents of Madison and to lead one of the finest police departments in Morris County."

The Chief has been in law enforcement for 30 years, having started his career in Morris Township in 1983. He joined the Madison Police Department in 1986 was promoted to Sergeant in 1994, Lieutenant in 2001, Captain in 2002 and became Acting Chief in August of 2008 and became Chief in June of 2009.

Madison Mayor Robert Conley added “Chief John Trevena has had a remarkable 30-year career in public service. He has spent the last 27 of those years serving the residents in Madison. We will miss him and we greatly appreciate the leadership he has given the department over the past 4 years as our Chief.”
