Madison Police Department

MADISON, NJ - The Madison Police Department, in cooperation with the United States Marine Corps, is proud to announce our annual partnership in the Toys for Tots program this Christmas. The mission of this program is to collect new unwrapped toys and distribute them to needy children in the Madison collection area.  Program Coordinator, Madison Police Officer Sean McCarthy, a former Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps and a current Master at Arms 3rd Class in the United States Navy founded the Madison Police Toys for Tots campaign in 2009 with fellow Madison Police Officer Alan Imperiale.  Imperiale, a former Marine Corps Captain, currently works for the New Jersey Transit Police in Newark New Jersey.

The mission of this program is to collect new unwrapped toys and distribute them to needy children in the Madison collection area. The Toys for Tots program was initiated in 1947 by Major Bill Hendricks who collected and distributed approximately 5,000 toys to the needy children of Los Angeles in that first year of the program. Over Sixty years later, the program has expanded to all 50 states and has distributed more than 400 million toys to over 188 million children.

On Saturday December 14th between 8am and 12noon the Police Department will host its first Toy Drop-Off, Drive-Through in the rear parking lot of the Public Safety Building.  Hot Chocolate, Candy Canes and Coffee will be provided by the Madison PBA Local No. 92.

The ultimate success of this program depends on the generosity of the community and their donations. Citizens are encouraged to drop off donations in the lobby of Madison Public Safety Building located at 62 Kings Road. Please remember that a single toy can make a tremendous difference in the life of a forgotten child. This is the 5th year the Madison Police Department / PBA No. 92 has collected over 10,000 toys for needy children!
