MADISON, NJ - Madison resident and author, Trish Lisa Wilson, is the recipient of Creative Child’s Magazine’s 2018 Book of the Year Award, a repeat honor. Wilson’s work, A Penny For Piggy: A Tale of Save, Spend, Share was also honored by the publication in 2014. The book was reviewed by parents and educators and received the highest accolade in two categories, specifically, Books For Kids and Books on Fiscal Concepts. Amazon reviews also give this timeless educational book 5 stars.

“Teaching young children financial literacy is a challenge for any adult. Although my goal in writing A Penny For Piggy: A Tale of Save, Spend, Share was to present complex money issues simply and directly, I also wanted to convey to youngsters both the importance and responsibility of thinking of others. It is an honor that Creative Child Magazine believes my work accomplishes both.”

Because A Penny For Piggy has become a popular school library choice for educators seeking books that introduce monetary concepts and social responsibility simultaneously, Wilson is frequently invited for classroom visits and local library book signings. “It is rewarding to hear from parents and teachers all over the country that young kids instantly want to follow the book’s guidelines with their allowances. As a parent with two young girls, this is no easy task!”

A litigation attorney by profession, Wilson was asked if her second book would be a sequel to A Penny For Piggy. “No, but I would love to write a book introducing legal concepts to children because kids can understand big issues at very young ages.”
