MADISON, NJ — Representing the boy’s basketball team, Sam Rosselli has been picked for this week’s Mary Comito State Farm Athlete of the Week.

Sam had a game-high 10 points against Morristown Beard on Monday, while also helping Madison get their first win against Kittatinny 82-56 on Thursday.

Rosselli, who came off the bench against Morristown-Beard, drilled three 3-pointers including scoring nine straight points for the Dodgers.

“If that’s the way he’s going to shoot this year then I’m going to be playing him,” said Head coach Brian Cavanagh. “He shot the best I’ve seen him in preseason and it’s good to see that work paying off."

Before the season, Sam would hit the weight room and try to shoot as much as possible.  He likes to listen to J Cole before games to get pumped up, and has a superstition of tying his right shoe before his left.

“Coach Cavanagh does a really good job preparing the guys during the preseason and as the season progresses,” Rosselli said. “We practice hard and we play hard no matter what the score."

When he’s not playing basketball, he’s hanging out with friends. He also is a midfielder for the Dodger lacrosse team. Rosselli will be going to the University of Miami once he graduates high school and is considering trying out for their basketball and lacrosse teams.

As for some of the team goals and what needs to happen going further; Rosselli hopes the team can make a run in the county tournament, but there still needs to be some work done.

“I think our defensive play has been pretty solid so far, but have to work on the offensive side better,” Rosselli said. “We have to move better without the ball and spread the floor out."

The Dodgers will play Glen Rock on Wednesday, December 28th at 3:00pm in the Holiday Tournament.
