Madisonians may wake up Tuesday morning to another blanket of snow, according to an alert from the National Weather Service issued Monday at 3:48 p.m.

Two nor’easters have already hit the area this month, but it seems Mother Nature will have mercy on the Rose City this time around.

The alert predicts that the total overnight snow will be about 2 to 3 inches. Some may view this as a relief compared to the nearly two feet of snow that one storm dumped on Madison last week.

Light rain will begin early this evening and turn into snow overnight, according to the alert, causing potentially slippery road conditions during the Tuesday morning commute.

A winter weather advisory and hazardous weather outlook have been issued for the Madison area from 8 p.m. Monday to 10 a.m. Tuesday.

A light dusting on Wednesday is also possible, alerts said, which could cause “suddenly changing travel conditions.”

“Scattered snow squalls are expected to move southeast through this area Wednesday, especially during Wednesday afternoon,” the National Weather Service said in one alert. “They could deposit a quick one half to 1 inch of snow, making stretches of pavement suddenly very slippery as temperatures briefly fall to near freezing in the squalls.”
