MADISON, NJ - New Jersey Transit will offer direct bus service from the Madison train station to Port Authority starting this Monday, July 31, according to Mayor Bob Conley.
Buses will run every 30 minutes, 7-9 a.m.
“This is a temporary service,” the mayor said, and will add to the number of “Summer of Hell” transportation alternatives available for Madison commuters. Boxcar currently offers private bus service from the Madison train station to Penn Station at 7 a.m. only.
NJ Transit’s new busing schedule in Madison will give later-morning commuters a more direct route to New York City in the midst of the “Summer of Hell,” which shut down all Midtown Direct service on the Morris & Essex line, July 10-Sept. 1, for track repairs at Penn Station.
After Sept. 1, both Boxcar service and NJ Transit will terminate these services as regular train schedules commence.
