WEST ORANGE, NJ – Certain wrestlers from Madison High School competed in the first round of the NJSIAA/Rothman Orthopaedics Region 3 wrestling tournament at West Orange Wednesday night.

Three Dodgers survived districts and made their way to West Orange for the first round on Wednesday. 

The highlight came at 145 pounds, as Madison’s 11th-seeded Jason Candelario defeated sixth-seeded Marc Dilluvio by a 3-1 decision. Candelario advanced to the Region 3 quarterfinals on Friday. He will meet third-seeded David Guerra of Belleville in the quarters. The winner will wrestle second-seeded Eli Shepard of West Morris or seventh-seeded D’Isaiah Larrea of Bloomfield in the semifinals.

At 160, Connor Gilfillan, the 14th seed, lost to third-seeded Ryan Jackson of Morristown by fall in 1:16. 

At 220 pounds, the Dodgers’ 14th-seeded Julian Moszcynski was pinned by Caldwell’s third-seeded Ben Rivera in 4:10.
