DENVILLE, NJ – The cover of the 2019-20 DECA Guide features Morris County School of Technology (MCST) student Gauri Kshirsagar of Parsippany. A senior in the Academy for Finance and International Business at MCST in Denville, Kshirsagar competed at DECA nationals this past April in retail merchandising and was the only New Jersey student to win a first-place trophy.

DECA, formerly Distributive Education Clubs of America, is a nonprofit career and technical student organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management. Its co-curricular programs enhance college and career preparation through integrated classroom instruction, applied learning, connection to businesses and competition.

During the school year, approximately 200,000 high school DECA members participate in the organization’s competitive events, allowing them to compete for regional, state and national titles. The competitions simulate real-life business and marketing scenarios and test students’ academic understanding and skill development.
