The date for the sixth annual St. Baldrick’s head shaving event in Madison has been changed again, and will now take place Sunday, June 10 at 2 p.m. at DownTown Salon on 20 Waverly Place and at The Bottle Tavern, formerly known as Poor Herbie’s, on 13 Waverly Place.

“We are very sorry for changing the date yet again,” event organizers said, “but this will give The Bottle Hill Tavern enough time to finish the renovation of their space. In addition, the weather will be a bit warmer which makes the logistics of the event easier.”

The event date was changed not only to accommodate renovation completion times for The Bottle Hill Tavern, but also to avoid conflict with the April 29 Madison Area YMCA Spinathon, which was previously scheduled for the same day.

Head shaving registration begins at 2 p.m., and the hair will start flying at about 2:30 p.m. at DownTown Salon. The Bottle Hill Tavern will donate 10 percent of its food sales to St. Baldrick’s.

Musical entertainment will be provided by Hatchet Jack, a Madison-based band.
St. Baldrick’s event participants shave their heads in exchange for donations to cures for childhood cancers. Over the past five years, this event has raised more than $320,000. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation funds more childhood cancer research grants than any other organization outside of the US government. For more information about St. Baldrick’s, click here.
