St. Francis Blessing of the Animals, October 3rd

On Sunday Oct. 3, 2010, Grace Church will hold its “St. Francis Blessing of the Animals” activities, in the sanctuary at the 9 a.m. service.  The community is encouraged to bring their pets to this shortened Morning Prayer service. A reception follows with treats for both humans and animals.
The Grace Church School Choirs, 50 trebles ages 7-17, will sing “Song of Creation” by Wilbur Held, and “Prayer of St. Francis” and will be joined by the Chapel Choir (ages 4-7), directed by Caitlyn Roper of New Providence, FDU student,, for the traditional Finnish hymn “Who Made Ocean, Earth and Sky?”  The Gargoyles, a young mens’ a cappella ensemble directed by PJ Livesey of Madison, will also sing “This We Know” also known as Chief Seattle’s prayer. Organ music will include “The Cuckoo and the Nightengale” by Handel.
