Stardust Big Band performed popular hits from the 1940s to a packed house at Drew University on Saturday. This fundraiser event raised more than $4,500 for America’s Grow-A-Row, a volunteer-based organization that provides fresh produce to the hungry.

Stardust, a 16-piece jazz ensemble featuring Madison’s own Andrew Filippone on trumpet, performed the some of swing era’s best-known hits, including “In the Mood,” “Take the A Train,” “Chatanooga Choo Choo” along with several show tunes and the 1970s hit “Feels So Good” by Chuck Mangione. The two-hour performance concluded with a standing ovation.

In attendance was the Pittstown charity’s founder Chip Paillex, who shared with the audience how Grow-A-Row’s farm and network meets critical needs to help individuals in local communities and provide nutritional education.
