MADISON, NJ - Alyssa DeBiasse, softball player and Junior at Madison High School was named 'Top Player in the Northwest Atlantic' this week and is TAP Into Madison's Spring Star Athlete pick.
"I started playing the game at age seven or eight and joined a club team at age 12," DeBiasse shared.
"I was completely shocked by the honor of Top Player Northwest Atlantic. I had no idea I was even nominated and then friends, family and players all really got behind me and I got a lot of votes. Winning was so exciting."
DeBiasse did more then get "a lot" of votes, she got 22,602 votes. Over a weeks period 81,000 total votes were cast giving DeBiasse a more than 34 percent overall win.
DeBiasse has 16 hits, nine RBIs and 15 runs scored. She is the 11-seed in the Morris County Tournament. Currently Madison is 6-5.
"I have played Varsity and started all three years, my freshman year I played in the field position, the last two years I have loved playing short stop and I bat first in the line up."
"Our record may me 6-5 but we are a very good team, when we are on, we are on," Debiasse shared.
"I love my coaches and my team is great, we all get along very well. I think we have all really come together and it will pay off the rest of the season."
The well rounded 'Dodger' also played volleyball over the winter and is thinking about going out for soccer this fall. "I'm just thinking about it now, because I like to stay active."
Debiasse will play on 'NJ Intensity' over the summer where she will play all over the country in tournaments, as well she is going to play in Italy visiting 6 cities.
"I hope to eventually play in college. But right now everything I am doing is just really cool and I am very excited about finishing a great season."
