MADISON, NJ - The Madison Area YMCA will hold its 16th Annual Charity Golf Classic on Monday, June 17, 2013, at the Morris County Golf Club in Morristown.  Citi Global Markets, the presenting sponsor, is graciously sponsoring the event for the second time. Bank of America/Merrill Lynch and Gary’s Wine & Marketplace are also major sponsors. The Y is actively seeking more sponsorships and auction item donations.

Exciting auction items already on the roster include a Jets package that features four Chase Touchdown or Lexus Club tickets for a NY Jets 2013 regular season home game and a private tour of the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center for four people. Other new items include: a 60-inch Samsung flat screen television, a bartending class for six at Serenade Restaurant in Chatham and a Seaview Golf Weekend in Atlantic City.

Back by popular demand is the Ladies’ Golf Clinic, designed to sharpen skills and boost confidence on the green. This is available for $200 which includes the clinic, beverages and dinner reception. Golf professionals Karen Noble and John McCarthy will teach chipping, fairway shots and putting. The clinic is from 3:30-5:00 p.m.

Golf participants have the opportunity to compete in two hole-in-one contests for a chance to win a car from Smythe Volvo and Madison Honda and a cash prize. Closest to the Line and a putting contest is also slated.

The Y encourages the community to come out and support the Charity Golf Classic by attending the reception, which includes cocktails and dinner, starting at 5p.m. Live and silent auctions will take place during the reception. Dinner reservations are available for $125 per person; tables of eight for $900.

Each year, 100% of the golf tournament proceeds make summer camp a reality for area children whose families are unable to fully afford the cost—the 2013 Golf event’s mission is to provide financial assistance for 200 weeks of camp. Since 1998, the Charity Golf Classic is the single most important fundraising event for the Madison Area YMCA’s Annual Fund.

The Annual Fund enables hundreds of children and families to participate in Y membership, programs and services including child care, early childhood education and summer camps at the Madison Area Y’s Family Center and renowned F.M. Kirby Children’s Center. The Annual Charity Golf Classic is one of the ways that allows the Madison Area Y to provide assistance to anyone who resides or works within its local service area. Support is provided based on demonstrated need, with the goal that no one be turned away from membership regardless of income or background.

To make dinner reservations, book a Ladies’ Golf Clinic spot, volunteer or become a sponsor, please contact Susan Alexander, the Golf Event Manager, at or Madison Area YMCA Annual Fund Coordinator Leigh Anne Soroka at or call 973-822-9622 ext. 2232.
