The Thursday Morning Club will launch its 2011-2012 program season with a “Welcome Back Fall Luncheon” to be held at noon Thursday, Sep 22, at the home of club member, Judy Koepff.  “The luncheon will mark the start of a number of interesting programs for Oct and Nov,” said Anne Lawless, who will begin her two-year term as President. 

Dr. Ruddy, affiliated with Overlook Hospital, Summit NJ, will speak about “Breast Cancer Awareness” following a dinner meeting Thursday, Oct 6 at the club’s Madison Community House, 25 Cook Ave.  Dinner, prepared by the club’s Catering Department under the direction of Bernie Grohol and Carolyn Stiner, will be served from 5:30 pm to 7 pm at a cost of $15.  The public is invited to attend the free presentation at 7 pm; however, dinner reservations must be made in advance by contacting Sharon Silver or (973) 425-7647.  Payment can be made at the door.

A bus trip to the “Pearl S. Buck House” in Perkasie, PA ,Bucks County, and the Fonthill Museum in Doylestown, PA is planned for Thursday, Oct 20, by Carole Contri and Sue Lincoln, co-chairwomen of the club’s International Department.  AChinese buffet luncheon is also included at the Pearl S. Buck Cultural Center.  The bus will leave at 8:30 am from Memorial Park, Rosedale Avenue.  The cost is $85.  The trip will be open to the public on Oct 8.  Priority seating will be given to members, spouses and friends.  For information contact Carole (973) 377-1719 or Sue (973) 377-1334.

Special fundraising events organized by Rose Mary Dinnhaupt, Ways and Means Chairwoman, to benefit the Madison Community House include a luncheon and lecture series “Wise Wonderful Women,” and a two-day holiday bazaar with an extravaganza of vendors and crafts. 

JoJo Starbuck, a three-time US pairs skating champion and two-time Olympian, will begin this year’s luncheon and lecture series from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm Thursday, Oct 27, at the Community House. Starbuck will speak about“The Thrills and Spills of My Life as an Olympic Skater.”  The event is open to the public.  The registration fee of $35 covers lunch and the lecture.  Checks can be made payable and mailed to “TMC, Wise, Wonderful Women,” P. “Le Bazar de Noel,” chaired by Connie Rostiac and Joan Cummings, returns on Fri, Nov 11 from 9:30 am to 6 pm and Sat, Nov 12 from 9:30 am to 4 pm at the Madison Community House.   “This is a great opportunity to purchase holiday gifts,” said Rostiac.

On Thursday, Nov 3, following the general meeting at 10 am, Kati Beddow Brower of the Local Commotion Walking History Programs will present “Women Pirates of America.” The program is free and open to the public.
