As another nor’easter buries the Rose City in a heavy blanket of snow, district administrators have announced a two-hour delayed opening for all public schools in Madison on Thursday morning.

Police and residents have reported downed wires and trees in roadways as of Wednesday at 6:39 p.m.

Roads are currently impassable as snow falls from the sky at a rate of nearly 2 inches per hour at times, police said. Accumulations could reach up to 14 inches, according to the National Weather Service.

Some neighborhoods have lost electricity, residents said. Those attending school tomorrow—and the parents giving them rides—will need time to “dig out” once the flurries stop.

Snowfall should subside overnight, the National Weather Service said in an alert.

The state of emergency issued by Gov. Phil Murphy on Tuesday at 8 p.m. is still in effect. No travel ban has been announced.
