Row NJ Total Athlete Training Program - Register Now!

Registration is now open for the NEW Row New Jersey Total Athlete Training Program

Building on the momentum of a successful fall racing, masters and middle-school schedule - Row New Jersey is now launching an enhanced training program to focus on the development of the total athlete.  This program, open to students in grades 8-12, is designed to build fitness, endurance, and total wellbeing to prepare athletes for the demands of spring rowing and other competitive sports.

Athletes can expect to balance an intense land-based conditioning program with practical skills development to enhance total athletic performance.  Daily sessions will consist of running, weightlifting, frequent use of the ergometer (rowing machines) and other organized program workouts (e.g. yoga, spin, and kickboxing) to increase strength, stamina, stability, and overall performance.  In addition, the team will have the unique opportunity to participate in optional indoor rowing experiences at the United States Military Academy at West Point, to refine rowing techniques in indoor rowing tanks.

What sets this year’s winter training apart from previous seasons is the addition of a practical and didactic curriculum focused on the success of the total athlete. This program will offer athletes and parents practical skills in diet & nutrition, stress management, sports physiology, college recruiting, and time management, and more. Renowned experts and special guest speakers will be assisting with this program.

The Row New Jersey Total Athlete Program will take place at Power House Fitness on Rt 10 in Whippany.  Practices include both boys and girls, Monday – Friday from 3:30-5:30 pm from December 9th-February 28th. Daily attendance is not necessary, but tuition is not pro-rated. To learn more, visit, or contact the Director of Rowing, Robert Welsh at, or link here to register.
