The Madison Area YMCA School of Performing Arts (SOPA) is pleased to announce that Courtney Crerand has joined its staff as associate SOPA director.
An experienced teacher, choreographer and performer with credits throughout the tri-state area, Courtney holds an AFA in dance from the County College of Morris (CCM) where she graduated summa cum laude, and received the outstanding choreography award two years in a row for her works presented through the CCM Dance Theatre. Courtney’s choreography was selected to be presented and adjudicated at the American College Dance Association Northeast Conference in Brockport, NY. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from Montclair State University.
“We are thrilled that Courtney joined the Y’s SOPA to support our current staff and expand our capacity in this growing program,” said Madison Area YMCA Senior Program Director Kim Buccheri. “Courtney’s breadth and depth of experience in the world of performing arts is an incredible asset to our Y. With Courtney, we look forward to unveiling many new and exciting SOPA enhancements and offerings to our members and community.”
“I’m very passionate about what I do,” said Courtney. “I want everyone, at all levels of ability, to have the chance to experience a high-quality dance education. We offer something for everyone, from beginner to advanced.”
As a former competitive dancer, Courtney received numerous high-scoring awards placing within the Top 5 at competitions throughout NJ, NY and PA. She continues her dance education through attending Associated Dance Teachers of New Jersey workshops and participating in the Dance Teacher Summit in NYC.
