The Madison Chatham Coalition’s Night of Conversation: A Prevention Podcast that debuts Thurs., Dec.12, at www.madisonareaymca.org/mcc offers teens and their families an opportunity to listen to an informative discussion about vaping, alcohol, marijuana, and stress/anxiety.

A panel of highly qualified professionals answered thought-provoking questions that were submitted by parents and teens. The experts panelists included Dr. Gary Kohn, pediatric pulmonologist of Summit Medical Group, who addressed vaping concerns; Christine McIntyre and Mike Ecklund of Project Community Pride of the Madison Area YMCA; Madison High School Student Assistance Counselor Vanessa Morgenthaler; and John Cerrato and Kellie Kucinski, clinicians with High Focus.

Substance use and mental health can be challenging topics to discuss with teens. Night of Conversation, an initiative created by Dr. Oz to encourage families to talk about drug and alcohol use, supports parents in raising healthy, confident and connected kids who are empowered to make healthy choices including avoiding the use of alcohol and drugs. This marks the fifth annual Night of Conversation. The Madison Area YMCA and Madison Chatham Coalition are doing their part to offer families the tools and resources to make every night a “night of conversation.”
