District Officials Announce Two-Hour Friday Delayed Opening for Madison Public Schools

A Thursday evening announcement from district officials confirmed what Mayor Bob Conley said was likely: All Madison public schools will have a two-hour delayed opening on Friday. 

All bus routes for students in Harding will be canceled on Friday, the announcement said, leaving students who live the farthest away from Madison schools with no school-administered mode of transportation. 

In a statement released Thursday, Conley said Friday school delays were of “high probability” as the borough, district administrators and Board of Education work to ready Rose City schools for students after Winter Storm Quinn made a mess of Madison.

“Immediate challenges,” including downed power lines and fallen trees, continue to plague residents as electric utility and public works crews work on the “extensive” post-storm clean up, the statement said.
