MADISON, NJ- Madison High School has announced the top two academic achievement awards for the Class of 2020- Valedictorian and Salutatorian. This year's honors go to Clare Culligan, Valedictorian and Hope Pratt, Salutatorian.
"We could not be more proud to have Clare and Hope represent the Class of 2020 as this year's Valedictorian and Salutatorian", said MHS principal David Drechsel. "Their accomplishments and impact go way beyond the classroom. They are outstanding citizens, role models, and have taken advantage of every Madison High School has to offer. We have no doubt that they are destined for success in whatever their future holds".
When asked about Culligan's favorite high school memory, she mentioned winning the first girls lacrosse state championship during her junior year, That year, Culligan netted 67 goals, 20 assists while controlling 109 draws for the Section 2, Group 2 Champion Madison Dodgers. She broke onto the scene in her freshman year, scoring 41 goals, before adding 46 goals and 15 assists in her sophomore year.
While Culligan will head to Lafayette College in the fall where she plans on majoring in neuroscience while playing lacrosse, Pratt will head to Duke University where she plans on majoring in biomedical engineering.
While at Madison High School, Pratt ran cross-country for four seasons. Her favorite memory was the moment she ran down the final hill, on Greystone Trail and saw the balloons and posters for Cross Country's Senior Day.
