MADISON, NJ  - A group of students from the Madison High School Interact Club hosted a successful food collection on Tuesday, May 26. The club’s goal was to fill a big yellow school bus – “Fill-A-Bus” -  with non-perishable groceries to be donated to the NourishNJ food pantry in Morristown.

The event is in connection with Madison High’s annual “Day of Service”, which conformed with social distancing and wearing face masks.

Cars were directed to a drive through line designed to ensure the safety of donor and volunteers as well as the donated items. Elisabetta Araya, President of the Interact Club and a sophomore at Madison High, has helped organize several other service events this year.

“Our Club had a team at the Rotary’s “End Hunger 3.6” event back in early March at Drew University, just before the lockdown, where almost 200,000 meals were packaged for food pantries all over Northern New Jersey.  Now the need is even greater", said Araya.

The Interact Club at Madison High is sponsored by the Madison Rotary Club.  Madison Rotary members assisted the students with the event and will provide additional financial support for donation of gift certificates for Shop Rite Supermarket, to complement to food collected.
