MADISON, NJ - Officials of National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced the names of approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the 66th annual National Merit Scholarship Program, on September 9. 

Over 1.5 million juniors in about 21,000 high schools entered the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), which served as an initial screen of program entrants. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state. 

"We are proud to announce that Madison High School has three Semifinalists", said Madison High School Principal David Drechsel. "The recipients are: Sadie HobermanHenry Marinovich, and Adam Sher"

"In addition to our three National Merit Semifinalists, Madison High School had an additional 17 seniors named a Commended Student in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program", said Drechsel. About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise.  Although they will not continue in the 2021 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers in the country.
