NEW JERSEY - Although there are now 71,030 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 3,156 total deaths in the state, Governor Murphy announced some good news. 

Murphy announced that between 10pm on Monday and 10pm on Tuesday night, 709 New Jerseyans were discharged from area hospitals.

"These recoveries bring us hope and strength as we continue our war against COVID-19", Murphy said.

According to state figures, there have been 3,156 New Jerseyans who were lost to the diseases, while 8,270 remain hospitalized.

"These lives should be the inspiration we need to keep working to defeat COVID-1 and to lower the toll this enemy is having on our state", said Murphy.
