MADISON, NJ - During Friday's press conference Governor Murphy announced that an additional 44 lives were lost to COVID-19. In total, there have been 13,060 total confirmed deaths in New Jersey. One of the New Jerseyans who died due to COVID-19, is 83 year old Madison resident Dominick "Dickie" Giordano, Jr.

A lifelong resident of Madison, Giordano, Jr. was the owner of Poor Herbie's Restaurant and Bar in Madison. Prior to getting into the restaurant business, he served in the U.S. Army, said Murphy.

"Whever he went he was never afraid of hard work", said Murphy of Giordano. "He always made sure his customers left happy and full".

Giordano was a Madison community leader, and a founding member of the North Star Athletic Club, Murphy said. 

"We thank him for his service to his Nation and to his community. May God bless you and watch over you", said the Governor.
