MADISON, NJ - June 5 has been proclaimed "National Gun Violence Awareness Day" by Madison Mayor Bob Conley. Conley made the proclamation at the Wednesday May 27 town hall meeting.

Theresa Turco, a volunteer with the New Jersey chapter of Mom’s Demand Action for Gun for Gun Sense in America, accepted Conley’s proclamation for National Gun Violence Awareness Day.

In remembrance of those who lost their lives to gun violence, Conley encouraged all citizens to wear orange on Friday, June 5 th . National Gun Violence Awareness Day was started six years ago by the friends and family of Hadiya Pendleton, a Chicago teen who lost her life to gun violence.
