MADISON, NJ -During a virtual town hall meeting, Mayor Bob Conley announced the reopening of several businesses while members of Madison’s council reported
on other key matters.

Mayor Conley reported that as of Monday, salons, personal care businesses, and the Madison Community Pool were able to reopen. On July 2 nd , indoor dining can resume at 25% percent capacity. Residents were advised to take Tri-Town Cares Mental Committee’s survey, which can be accessed at www.surveymonkey.com/rtri-towncaressurvey.

Carmela Vitale, of the Finance & Borough Clerk Health Committee, provided a report from the Clerk’s Office concerning the upcoming election. By Executive Order 144, Election Day is on July 7 th . Members of both the Republican and Democratic parties have been sent mail-in ballots, which are postage paid. As an alternative to mailing, ballots can be placed in the drop box located behind the public safety complex at 62 Kings Road.

Astri J. Baillie, of the Public Safety Committee, reported that the police assisted with a peaceful demonstration organized by Black Lives Matter on Saturday, June 13 th . Baillie said that Police

Chief Dachisen was grateful for the hundreds who turned out “he’d like to thank all who attended exercising their constitutional rights in a peaceful and respectful manner.”

Debra Coen, of the Health & Community Affairs Committee, reported a total of 146 cases in Madison. Only eight of those cases remain open while only eleven new ones have occurred since June 1 st . While the number of cases continues to drop, it’s advised that residents continue to practice social distancing since Madison is still in the early stages of reopening.

A moment of silence was taken for Madison resident James Prisco, Sr. who passed away at the
age of 90.
