MADISON – The seventh-seeded Madison High School boys soccer team edged 10th- seeded Rutherford, 1-0, in the first round of the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 2 tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 29.

Noel O’Donnell scored the lone goal on an assist from Juan Angel in the second half. Madison goalie Brendan Armstrong made eight saves in the shutout. Madison had an 11-8 advantage in shots on goal.

The Dodgers move on to play second-seeded Bernards in the North 2, Group 2 quarterfinals on Friday, Nov. 1. Bernards was a 3-2 winner over 15th-seeded North Star
Academy in the first round.
