MADISON – The Madison High School football team concluded the regular season with a 35-28 loss to Newton on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon.
The Dodgers concluded the regular season with a 1-7 record, dropping their sixth in a row. Five of the team’s seven losses have now come by seven or less points. Newton took a 14-0 lead with 8:03 remaining in the first half. Madison had its first points come with 4:29 remaining in the half, making the score 14-7 in favor of the visiting Braves.
Newton scored late in the first half and led 21-7 at halftime.
Madison fought back with 21 straight points and led 28-21 at one point, but Newton scored 14 in a row to close out the game, with the go-ahead score with 1:06 left.
Newton improved to 7-2, winning its seventh in a row following a 0-2 start to the season.
