MADISON, NJ – The second-seeded Madison High School girls lacrosse team captured the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 2 championship by defeating top-seeded Rumson-Fair Haven, 11-5, on Friday, May 24.
Taking a trip down to Rumson, the Dodgers picked up one of their biggest wins of the season. Madison (16-4) handed Rumson-Fair Haven just its third loss of the season, and first since a 9-8 loss to Moorestown on April 15. Rumson was on a 14-game winning streak prior to the loss to Madison.
Ginny Taylor led Madison with four goals, Lauren Kaye scored three goals and had an assist, Clare Culligan contributed two goals and one assist and Leah Rutland and Emma Torkelson both scored. Madison goalie Jula Tully made nine saves in the win.
And so the Dodgers, now on a five-game winning streak, will look to keep it going against North 1, Group 2 winner Indian Hills.
Madison is scheduled to meet Indian Hills in the Group 2 semifinals on May 29 at West Essex High School at 4:30 p.m.
Indian Hills (17-4) defeated Mahwah, 16-5, to win the North 1, Group 2 title on May 24.
