MADISON, NJ -  The Madison Girls basketball team opened play in the Lady Dodgers Tournament with a convincing 50-34 win over Hackettstown, improving to 3-0 on the season. The Dodgers used a 13-6 advantage in the second quarter to pull away. Tess Callaghan led Madison with 17 points and Shea Baggett added 13. The Dodgers will next meet Mount Olive, which was a 39-34 winner over Whippany Park in the first game of the tournament on Friday, in Saturday’s final.

On the boys side, the Dodgers (1-2) fell to Somerville, 53-42, in the Cougar Classic at Chatham. Somerville used a 20-13 fourth quarter to pull away. Brendan Mariani paced Madison with 12 points. Ethan Hilliman led Somerville with 21 points. Madison takes on New Providence in the Cougar Classic Saturday at 2:15 p.m.
