MADISON – The Madison High School boys soccer, girls soccer and girls volleyball teams were in action on Thursday, Sept. 12.
Girls Soccer - Madison put in four second-half goals and the Dodgers improved to 2-0-1 following a 4-0 shutout of Villa Walsh Academy on Thursday. The win was the second in a row for Madison. Madison had a 15-8 edge in shots on goal over Villa Walsh. The team showcased its depth as Nikki Cilenti, Sadie Kim, Brooke Kleiven and Erin Kleiven all found the back of the net. Grace Keane had two assists and Kim and Lauren Fowler each had one. Goalie Ginny Taylor made four saves.
Next up for the Dodgers will be Mountain Lakes on Sept. 16 at home at 4 p.m.
Girls Volleyball - Madison dropped a three-set match to Jefferson, 13-25, 26-24, 22-25 on Thursday, falling to 1-2 on the season. The Dodgers will have a quad against New Providence, Mount Olive and South Plainfield Saturday morning at 10 at New Providence.
Boys Soccer - Madison won its third straight game by defeating Hanover Park on the road, 2-1, on Thursday. The Dodgers had 10 shots on goal and put in two goals in the second half after trailing 1- 0 at the break. Owen Eilender scored, Peter Carroll had an assist and goalie Brendan Armstrong made seven saves.
Madison stays on the road for a game at Morristown-Beard on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
