The 18th-seeded Madison High School girls soccer team defeated 15th-seeded Morris Hills, 2-1, in overtime in the opening round of the Morris County Tournament on
Sunday, Sept. 22.
In summer-like conditions, Madison rallied from a 1-0 deficit at halftime and was able to score with 6:41 left in regulation after Nikki Cilenti found the back of the net to tie the
game. Cilenti then scored the golden goal as the Dodgers advanced to the next round.
Madison (3-2-1) will face second-seeded Chatham in the next round of the county tournament. The Cougars sit at 5-1 and have only lost to Randolph, the top seed in the
tournament, this season.
