ASBURY PARK, NJ -- Be Home Soon, an official selection of the 2019 Garden State Film Festival, focuses on a day in the life of a woman as she prepares for her husband to come home. TAPintoTV spoke with Writer/Director Keith Armonaitis and Actor Heather O’Scanlon about the world premiere of the film at this year’s GSFF, held again in Asbury Park.
Be Home Soon is also the directorial debut for Armonaitis. “It’s about keeping up appearances, what it means to have the perfect home, and what it means to be the perfect wife,” said Armonaitis.
“When I wrote my latest film,” said Armonaitis, “the first person I thought of as I was writing it was Heather, because I’ve seen her act so many times and I just knew the depth of talent that she has,” he said.
This is the second consecutive year that the GSFF has been held in Asbury Park, after starting here and moving to Atlantic City for several years. “There’s been a really great buzz that has built around the festival since coming back,” said O’Scanlon, who also serves as a board member of the GSFF. “It gets a little crazy, especially as we get closer and closer. We have 245 films from all over the world--it was nearly 2,000 submissions.”
O’Scanlon explained that this was the first year the festival was also recognizing actors at its annual awards ceremony. “As an actor, I am the subject of that process,” she said. “It was nice being on the other side of that table and just seeing all the great work that everyone’s putting out.”
