MAHOPAC, N.Y. - On Thursday morning, March 23, a goose was found running down Route 6 in Mahopac. Two local residents were able to capture the goose and were to referred Animal Nation, a Westchester-based nonprofit organization with both a wildlife rehabilitation division and a farm animal sanctuary division.

Upon accepting the goose, it was discovered that this is no ordinary goose. The goose was identified as a brown Chinese goose, which is a domestic breed. In addition, this goose is very human-friendly. With concern that he may have been injured while running in the street, he was seen by a partner veterinary center specializing in avian and exotic medicine. The goose was given a clean bill of health and is now safe at Animal Nation’s farm sanctuary.

The organization is trying to locate the owner of this bird. If anyone has lost their beloved pet, contact Animal Nation at 914-400-6014.
