MAHOPAC, N.Y. - The Austin Road Elementary School PTO held its inaugural “Monster Mash” on Saturday, Oct. 28, inviting all the school’s little ghosts, goblins and witches to spend a fun and scary afternoon playing games, eating treats and wearing their really cool Halloween costumes. The event was a fundraiser for the PTO, and families paid $10 a ticket to take part in a variety of fun games and activities. There were 20 booths featuring contests such as bursting balloons with darts and eating donuts off a string. There was face painting, a DJ and even trick-or-treating outside the classrooms. Nearly 400 attended the event and organizers said next year they might have to consider holding the Monster Mash on more than one date to accommodate everyone!
