MAHOPAC, N.Y.— A Peekskill man faces a felony assault charge after he allegedly stabbed a man during a bar fight at the Mahopac Inn on Saturday night, April 1.
Police said they arrested Cain Smalls, 24, and charged him with second-degree assault, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.
Police Chief Mike Cazzari said that when officers arrived at the bar, patrons were yelling that someone had a knife and pointed them in the direction of Smalls who threw the knife on the floor. He said Smalls began walking toward the officers who ordered him against the wall. After a brief struggle, Smalls was handcuffed and a search recovered the knife in the vicinity of where he had been standing.
Smalls was arraigned by a judge who remanded him to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 cash bond.
Police did not reveal the name of the victim or his condition.
