SOMERS, N.Y. – Kennedy Catholic Prep’s varsity boys soccer team won their third consecutive CHSAA Class A City Championship on Saturday, Nov. 14.

Matched up against the Queens/Brooklyn League champ, McClancy High, for the second straight year, Kennedy was down by one goal at the half until senior Brian Tolan netted the equalizer in the second half with an assist from Mahopac resident Liam Mulholland.

After an extra session, the game went to penalty kicks, where Kennedy came out ahead, 3-1, in the shootout after goalkeeper Luke Gerstner turned away two McClancy attempts. Brendan Liddy, who resides in Somers, Paul Duggan from Yorktown and P.J. Wu each converted a penalty kick.

The Gaels finished their 2020 season with a 9-3 record.
