MAHOPAC, N.Y.-School officials say they are looking into allegations of bullying and harassment within the district’s transportation department after more than a dozen complaints have been filed by union members against a co-worker.
Employees told Mahopac News that a pattern of behavior by the individual has been ongoing for about three years, including instances of intimidation, furious outbursts, name-calling, physical contact and the filing of false allegations with the district office.
“I am so sickened by what is going on in the transportation department,” bus driver Sueann Ferrari told the school board at last month’s meeting. “I am a bus driver, I am a resident and I am a taxpayer and it is disgusting. We are constantly lied to. They say things are going to be different, but they are not. I can’t even begin to tell you how embarrassed I am to live in this town.”
Sherri Marino, a former account clerk in the transportation department, said she was fired after she spoke out against the alleged bully.
