To the editor,
After more than two decades, the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary (USCGA) Mahopac Flotilla finds itself in a position where it needs new recruits to satisfy the USCGA requirement for maintaining its status as an operational flotilla.
We are reaching out to anyone who may be interested in joining. The pay is not great (we are volunteers), but the rewards of membership includes knowing that what we do may save a life. Anyone over the age of 16 who supports maritime domain awareness, maritime search and rescue, recreational boating safety, and is interested in being part of something bigger than life, providing recreational and commercial vessel inspection, boating education and a variety of operational support activities for the United States Coast Guard has an opportunity to join.
With spring around the corner, what better time to start training for a variety of qualifications in support of our mission?
Those interested can call me at 914-393-1377, or show up at our monthly meeting held every third Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the hamlet of Carmel VFW meeting hall located downstairs behind the old courthouse and to the right of the entrance to the new courthouse (where the attorneys park to the right entering from Route 52). There’s a big white neon sign out front. Park in the back and enter under the stairs.
