Before talk about the update on the proposed Republican replacement of Obamacare, let me say this about last week’s firing of FBI Director James Comey: Within hours of the firing, the Democrats and their sycophants in the media were telling us this was Nixionian, tantamount to another “Saturday Night Massacre.” Look at the timing. If Trump wanted to fire Comey, he could have done so when he was sworn in. Trump is orchestrating a coup, they surmised.
First off, as one who lived through Watergate, Nixon fired the attorney general who refused to fire the special prosecutor. Then, he fired another one until he had one who would and did. Hence the term “massacre.”
In this case, the assistant attorney general sent a detailed memo to the attorney general outlining the reason he thought the director should be fired. The attorney general then sent a memo to the president with the assistant’s memo attached saying he concurred. Trump then sent the memo of dismissal with both the assistant attorney general and the attorney general’s memo attached, notifying Comey he was being immediately terminated.
As for the timing, Trump did not have an attorney general until February and an assistant attorney general until April 28. This was because, even though Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer could not stop the nominations, he could and did use Senate procedures to stall them.
Second and most important, there is no constitutional crisis! Trump cannot conduct a coup. He already has power. He already is president. Anyone who tells you different is not worth listening to or reading.
It’s funny, just two weeks ago, and all the way up to two days before the firing, leading Democrats and their media stenographers were all talking about how Comey needs to be fired because of how he mistreated Hillary. We were told that between him and the Russians, that is why Hillary lost. Then, there was Hillary at an event claiming that Comey, misogyny, and the Russians cost her the election. Now Comey gets fired, and all of a sudden they say how could Trump do that?
More Trumpcare Lies
Within hours after the House passed their repeal of Obamacare, I am reading on the internet that “the Republican health care bill that passed the House of Representatives now treats the cause of rape as a preexisting condition in order to deny rape victims and the victims of sexual abuse health insurance.”
By the next day this was being repeated by the media, print and broadcast. It is a special kind of stupid bordering on hatred to believe this. First of all, any waiver requested by the states must be approved by the Secretary of Health. To believe any Secretary of Health, be it man (in this case) or woman, would approve this takes that special kind of stupid. Besides, as of 2014, 46 states bar that kind of request.
This is worse than made up. It’s worse than lies. This is insane hysteria. What they are trying to claim is that Republicans would use the cause of rape, the circumstances that led to rape, the rape itself, and the aftermath, which would include post-traumatic stress disorder, to deny the victims of rape and sexual abuse health insurance on the basis that it’s a preexisting condition.
Nevermind the fact that the Republicans are bending over backwards to include preexisting conditions in virtually everything to the tune of $138 billion. I know last week I wrote $200, but I submitted the column before the final vote. Still, It probably will go that high when the Senate gets through with it.
If you listen to the Democrats and the media, I would not blame you if you thought Obamacare was the most beloved piece of federal legislation ever. That it had a 100 percent approval rating. That nobody was suffering from it. Now, the Republicans have come along and want people to die. The Republicans want to deny rape victims access to insurance because rape and the cause of it equals a preexisting condition. All to help big insurance.
The truth about Obamacare is it’s killing jobs; it’s killing the U.S. economy and as long as Obamacare is in force, I do not see how our economy can ever grow. Not with the federal government owning one-sixth of the U.S. economy and making a mess of it, with premiums and deductibles skyrocketing.
The people voted in an outsider because they wanted to change course. They might have like Obama but they did not like his policies. Polls showed that leading up to the election. Now there is a serious effort to wipe the Obama’s policies off the map, and the big signature Obamacare. With the House vote, the first step has been taken.
This is what I say. What say you?
