MAHOPAC, N.Y. - The annual Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department Carnival, celebrating 104 years, kicked off with its parade down Route 6 last Thursday evening (July 5). The carnival continues at the end of this week, July 12, 13 and 14, with lots of rides, midway games and yummy carnival food, including their “world-famous” sausage and pepper wedges, which, if you’re adventurous, you can top off with some deep-fried Oreos!
While there, you can stop by and pick up some raffle tickets for a 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased from any department member, at businesses throughout town and, of course, at the carnival. New this year: Pay one price to ride rides all night — ride bracelets available for $30. Credit cards are accepted for ride tickets and an ATM is available on the carnival grounds. The carnival continues this weekend, July 12-14.
