MAHOPAC, N.Y. - Vehicles lined the street along South Lake Boulevard in the Mahopac business district, as the “Fireball Run” race arrived in Mahopac on Friday, Sept. 30.
“Fireball Run” is a TV adventure series celebrating its 10th season. The show follows 40 teams of contestants as they travel 2,000 miles in pursuit of unique American locations and obscure historical artifacts while helping in the Race to Recover America’s Missing Children.
Teams come from all around the world. There were contestants from as far away as Norway. In addition, astronaut Marcos Pontes, actor Brian O’Halloran, best known as Dante Hicks from “Clerks,” and billionaire socialite Jacqueline “Jackie” Siegel also competed on teams.
Locals were rooting for Team Putnam, their hometown team, which was made up of Johnny Crecco and Sean Dunn. Crecco, a Somers resident, is one of the owners of Villa Barone Hilltop Manor. Dunn, owner of Well Dunn Maintenance and Contracting, is a Mahopac resident. The two met many years ago through their mutual love of motorcycles.
The duo rode in Dunn’s 2014 Shelby Mustang for the race.
This year, the eight-day race started in Western New York and traveled through Pennsylvania and Maryland before reaching Mahopac on Sept. 30. After leaving Mahopac on Saturday, Oct. 1, the teams went through Connecticut and finished the race in Amesbury, Mass.
Fireball Run is a 26-episode streaming series in the U.S., which can be seen through Amazon Prime, and is also televised in foreign markets.
