How Well Do You Know Your Patriotic Songs?

Dear Dr. Linda,

Many years ago I was handed this fun quiz, Matching Patriotic Song Lyrics to the Song. I thought your readers would enjoy it as we approach the Fourth of July. It’s a great activity for the young and old.

Dear Marlene H.,

Thanks so much for sending me this great list of songs and lyrics. I’m not so sure how the young will do, but some middle agers and definitely seniors will have fun seeing how many songs they can match with their lyrics. Write the number of the lyric beside the title of the song below.

Lyrics

  1. “Stand beside her and guide her thru the night with a light from above.”
  2. “Ev’ry heart beats true ‘neath the red, white and blue, where there’s never a boast or brag.”

  4. “O’er the ramparts we watched, Were so gallantly streaming.”

  6. “From the redwood forest to the gulf stream waters/This land was made for you and me.”
  7. “Father and I went down to camp/Along with Captain Gooding…”
